A Blank Wall = Endless Possibilities

A Blank Wall = Endless Possibilities

Nov 2, 2011

Whether you like the challenge of creating from a blank canvas or not, creating a pleasing environment in a room without any décor at all or the wrong décor requires work and planning.

Here is something to consider, start with the largest space in the room and work backwards to the smallest area. If there is one large wall to work with, consider setting the mood with a backdrop and some lighting.

Are you wondering how you will hang a backdrop on the wall? In the past, this was something to worry about but those days are over. Grosh has created a revolutionary way to hang a backdrop. Using the Backdrop LIFT, you can set up a backdrop in less than 15 minutes with two people! There are no heavy pieces and no additional equipment is required.

S2746-Garden with Wall BackdropS2746-Garden with Wall Backdrop

A wedding planner came to visit me last month to take a look at a painted Wedding Chapel backdrop. I assumed that she would be using this item for a theatrical production; however I was only half correct. She explained that her plan was to use this as a backdrop scene for an actual wedding that was to take place in an old downtown city theater where a couple had their first date and now wished to exchange wedding vows.

The very next day I received a call from another one of my clients who happens to be an event planner specializing in luxury weddings. He reserved one of our Opalescent White Austrian Puff drapes. His intention was to use the drapery panel to line the walls of agrand ballroom where his clients’ extravagant wedding reception will be held. He also planned to have the lights change colors throughout the evening, which would give a dramatic effect during the celebration. I received a call from him two weeks after the event took place and he told me that the bride and groom were both so pleased with the room setup and absolutely loved how the drape softened the feeling of the room.
Weddings can be very imaginative when you use a themed backdrop or beautiful drape to help set the scene. Backdrops can accent the floral designs and centerpieces around reception halls by highlighting the hues, color coordinating with the bridesmaids’ dresses, covering up unsightly walls, as a background for your catering station, or simply provide the classical clean look of a garden wedding.

Caterers Utilize Grosh Backdrops for Affordable Decor

Caterers Utilize Grosh Backdrops for Affordable Decor

Sep 15, 2009

After being asked to guest-blog for Grosh Scenic Rentals this week, I quickly thought of the nine years I was working as an Executive Chef of a hotel and catering company here in Los Angeles. During my time there, a very common question continued to resurface with many customers. “How do I cover this ugly wall at my venue or cover the existing decor with something that will match my vision AND make it affordable on my aching wallet?”

At Universal Studios Hollywood Catering, the Circus Tent Interior was used with some of our circus banners like the Fire-Eater Banner to achieve the look of a big-top circus event. Caterers can also tie in the theme of the backdrop to the menu selection that they are serving their dinner guests, such as the normal circus food-fare of hot-dogs, popcorn, and cotton candy. Every small detail with the use of the backdrop helps caterers make the experience more life-like for the themed vision, whether it be for a graduation, wedding party, prom, annual company event, or private party.
